String Tag Options

Specifying Considerations

When it comes to specifying the ideal string for your hang tag, there are three key factors that you need to consider.

Material Icon String Material

The primary consideration is whether you want to use a stretchy, elastic string that can be very easy to attach or a poly/cotton string that has a higher-end appearance and is more durable.

Knotted Icon Looped or Knotted

The next consideration is whether you want the string pre-knotted so that it can be easily attached or looped with open ends that the user can tie the tag onto its item, equipment, etc.

Strenth Icon String Length

Strings typically come in working lengths that range from 1.5" to 8" long. The length chosen is often determined by how the tag will be attached, viewed and allowed to hang freely without snagging.

Standard String Materials

Poly/Cotton Strings

Poly/Cotton

Poly-cotton string combines the best properties of both polyester and cotton to deliver the soft, natural appearance of cotton with the durability and high tensile strength of polyester. It is strong enough for industrial applications yet still provides a premium, upscale look and feel for retail, travel and other tags.  Standard in white or black, other colors available upon request.

Elastic Strings

Elastic

Elastic strings are often specified for their convenience and versatility. They can typically be applied very quickly - by either wrapping them around handles or stretching them to fit over various product shapes and sizes.  All elastic tags are pre-knotted and come standard in white or black. Other colors available upon request.

Natural Jute Strings

Natural (Jute-like)

Natural (Jute-like) strings are typically specified for use on retail applications where one wants to provide a rustic, eco-friendly or natural aesthetic.  This material is ideal for brands emphasizing sustainability as they are biodegradable, yet still durable and cost effective.  They are often specified along with one of our recycled paper tag materials.

Looped or Knotted

After choosing between poly/cotton, elastic or our natural string material, one must decide whether to have the strings pre-knotted in our factory or looped so that they can be tied on by the end user.

Looped String

We supply a string that is fastened to the tag with two open ends that can be tied onto the application.

Knotted String

Pre-tied hang tags with string are ideal for applications where the tag will be hung onto its application.

Elastic String

String Lengths

Specifying the ideal length for your string can be a little challenging.  Most elastic strings are relatively short as they will stretch to fit onto an item and then retract to provide a tighter attachment.  Poly/cotton and natural string lengths are typically influenced by the application.  Our team of tag design specialists can help provide you with industry standards to use as a guide.
